Meh

We had our first snow yesterday, a little unexpected. This year is definitely a strange one and it is too cold for this time of year. Of course, anything below 60 is too cold for my blood :) I had a really crappy day yesterday, so hopefully today will be better. I am still struggling for a new place to take pictures and I think I may have found one. My background will be the dinner table but the hutch makes it look okay. I will take it there tomorrow and see how it looks - I thought the foyer would be a good place but not so much. I'm not complaining though - I love my new furniture. My living room seems cozy now. I will share pics with you tomorrow :) Keep in mind it's a little crowded but it is starting to grow on me. I will begin my baking tonight for Thanksgiving :) What are you plans for Thanksgiving?
The below outfit is meh

One Day....

As I am getting caught up on my pictures - my attire does not match the weather. Winter has made it's appearance in TN and it is blistery cold. I have been busy, busy. A guy at work wanted to get rid of two very nice couches with recliners on both ends and a big 60" TV. Now, the TV I had did not even have connections for a VCR or DVD and to graduate to this - is like WOW. My living room is now crammed pack but I have enough seating for everyone. I wish it were a true flat screen then I could put the TV in this built in. There isn't any electricity on this wall and I will have to have DirecTV come out and move my cable but Mr. Man said we could put a small hole in the wall and use the electricity from the office behind the wall. I was thinking that would be cool and also get a fireplace insert underneath. I have such expensive dreams and always spending money I don't have in my head. I have faith...one day.....

Dress/Blouse

This is dress I bought I Ross but it is still too tight and too short, so I decided to pair it with my favorite skirt and use it as a blouse. It was a perfect - I loved the way it looked and felt on me. This is what I have learned from my fellow bloggers :) I have grown so much since I first started blogging even though it has mostly been the same clothes. My style and the way I carry myself has changed. :) What has changed your style through the years? Do you just go with the trends or stick to what you like? My signature on clothes is prob my capris - I wear them pretty much all year around.

Pairing With....

I decided to do something different with the below blouse. I love it but have had trouble pairing it - I have put it with brown capris and white capris, and then the skirt below. I think it would have been perfect if it was a tad bit longer; however, the shoes I believe really set this outfit off. I had a decent weekend - Saturday was a bust since it rained and couldn't get on the Greenway and my budget didn't allow me to keep my scheduled gray covering on my hair. Now that is all I see when I look in the mirror. Felt sorry for myself for most of Saturday - but Sunday went to church and then to a project night with a friend that sells UpperCase Living. I really enjoy those and got three Christmas gifts completed. How was your weekend?

Flowers and Stripes

These pants that my grandmother got me have turned out to be invaluable. I decided to pair them with this floral blouse that has all the colors...

I love how it looks together - the stripes are subtle enough just to pull the colors out - Love, Love these new pants!! It is finally the weekend and the weather is going to be warmer, in the mid 60s low 70s - getting the gray covered up tomorrow and then I guess I will try to hit the Greenway since it is supposed to rain Sunday and I am supposed to go to a craft party Sunday which I totally forgot about. Hope you have a great weekend!!

Weighted Mind

I am really worried about my weight lately. I can't seem to get the body I want and I am really worried with the holidays around the corner. I really love to eat and I'm in baking mode this time of year. I have decided to up my work out routine - it was too cold to walk outside Tuesday so I did an hour on my elliptical. I was surprised at just how easy I did, I didn't think I would get through it. It seems I am in better shape than I thought but why can't the shape come in the form of smaller clothes? Granted I do feel great but wanna look better, is it because of my age? I have seen other women my age and older with the body I want <POUTING> I really like the outfit I put together below, except the shoes. How has your week been so far? I have weight on mind :(

Week's Smiles

I smile at mastering my grandma's Pumpkin Nut Roll - I omitted the nuts
Here is the recipe:
3 eggs
2/3 cup pumpkin
1 cup sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmet
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup pecan or walnuts (finely chopped)

Filling:
1 cup powdered sugar
6 - 9 oz cream cheese
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp vanilla

Beat eggs at high speed for 5 minutes. Add pumplin, sugar, and lemon juice. MIx dry ingredients together and fold into pumpkin mixture. Pour onto greased jelly roll pan or cookie sheet (I greased parchment paper on put on my cookie sheet). Sprinkle with 1 cup finely chopped pecans. Bake a 375 degrees for 15 minutes. After removing from oven, turn directly out on a towel sprinkled with powdered sugar. Roll up in towel  (I left mine cool for an hour). Beat filling ingredients together (I sifted the powdered sugar). When cake is cool, unroll and fill with this mixture, re-roll.

I smile at the three men in life who were Veterans my father, Army

My grandfather - Navy - Korean War

Mr. Man - Navy

Of course can't forget the little man.....

Summer/California

Goodbye summer...goodbye sandals, rock concert tees, and capris. Summer is my favorite season most of all - I love the 80 plus degrees, swimming pools, sitting outside and feeling the sun on my skin. <SIGH> Let's see, on the positive of winter is that I get to wear my boots and wear clothes from fall/winter closet - like getting new clothes. Some people love the winter, you would think I would be a winter girl since I was born in January - nope. Of course, I was also born in TN and think I should have been a California girl :) How bout you? What kind of season/state are you?

Summer/California here :)

Not Ready

Another wonderful weekend - the weather was gorgeous. I made my grandma's pumpkin nut roll for church. The first one I made was not rolled tight enough but I made a second one for Mr. Man and it was perfect and man, it was delicious. I went to church yesterday and made it to the Greenway. The weather is calling for really cold temps tomorrow and Wednesday, possibly even if flurries. BRRRRRR I am not ready to winter. I really like the outfit below, of course, it was taken while the weather was warmer :) Hope you have a good week!!

Favorite Color

Yellow is my favorite color and while this may not be the most flattering of outfits, I do like. These capris have yellow and purple pinstripes and I love pairing yellow with them to bring out the highlights. You cannot really see them in the picture, you will have to just trust me. I am worried about the upcoming holidays and putting on some weight. I am also disappointed that as much and as hard as I think I work out I still do not have defined arms. I guess I need to up my work out or something GRRR Do you work out?
